Recipe for Recession

Quiche was invented for recessions. I clean out my fridge before heading to the market to figure out what we need for the week... This week I had some odds and ends that made a delicious quiche this week. Spinach, broccoli, carrots, ham, peppers... nice and simple and everyone loved it... especially the simple homemade crust!

My mom had a book in the 80s called "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche"... hmmm.

Beautiful and Stinky

These lilies were a gift from Larry last week in honor of our anniversary. Very lovely. But their heady smell was too much for all of us... they are still gorgeous but living on our patio now. I like this picture.

Baby's Birds

These darn birds have been sitting around in their "finished state" for weeks now. I am not happy with them. The idea is great... but they are awkward and quirky (OMG!). But Maggie likes them! I tried stringing them to be hung but I filled them with scraps and fiberfil making them quite heavy. So, I just tacked them on her wall this morning. I put a decent amount of work into them so I am forcing myself to enjoy them.

Stay tuned for some Chintzy Couture Baby scrap dresses in the coming days...

xo.

a tisket, a tasket, my new sewing basket!

Maybe a new sewing basket will inspire me to sew? Hmm, maybe not. But, you know, I have been without a sewing basket for several years now. My old one (and my beloved first) was stolen! And I can't recollect exactly what was in it... but I know there were old photos and treasures galore. Anyhoo, I have let go of that and decided it was time for a new one. I got this one for $7... it's very retro (although brand spanking new) including the plastic insert like my mother and grandmother's baskets have.

And who would have STOLEN my old basket? Right out of my sewing studio at an arts center? I dunno, maybe some fool who thought I'd make it big on a reality TV show... did I tell you that PR already had the casting call in Seattle and I wasn't invited? *sniff*
