Hundred Dollar Bill

Larry gave me a $100 bill to shop with yesterday that his grandmother gave him over the weekend. I bought a couple of cold weather odds and ends at Factory 2 U (yuck). But I thought I could save myself some money and get some super cheap basics. And I found some cute things for the kids and some ugly Ugg knockoffs for me all for $17. I brought my purchases to the register, handed the bill to the clerk, he checks the bill with one of those counterfeit checking pens. And the line shows up dark! It is supposed to be clear if the bill's legitimate. He looks at me and says he has to call his manager.

Panic sets in. Are they gonna call the police?

Both the manager and the clerk look at me and then each other and wonder how many bills like this I made that morning... I freaked out. When were the police going to show up? I just offered to pay with my debit card. Luckily they gave the bill back to me. I paid and quickly made my way out and called Larry.

I was thinking of going back and telling them it was just old money. Whatever I'm leaving. The security camera probably took my picture and everyone who works there knows to check all the cash I use. Ha ha.

Long story short, the bill was a 1950 series bill. In mint condition. They weren't made with watermarks or the strip inside the paper. It looked fake but you can tell if an old bill's real if when you scratch your nail over the letters you can feel ridges.

A Thought on Packing

A word from experience: Don't take down your art when you first start packing. I did, and now my home is particularly colorless and sad. Blah.
