Henry's Dirty Knock-Knock Joke

The baby still has an ear infection. It's been almost a month now that we've been dealing with one after another sickness in this house. And I am BURNT OUT. She was crabby and very needy today. Needless to say, no packing was done but I managed to sand my kitchen table and Larry oiled it. It's like I have a new table! Love it! Happy Valentine's Day to me!

Knock Knock.
Who's There?
Stinky.
Stinky Who?
You have a stinky hole!

Ha ha hahaha. Ha! Henry told this one to me today... oh, man... I live in a house full of comedians.

I don't consider myself a packrat...

but I have too much stuff! I want to be comfortable and have things that are sentimental to me... and still have an un-cluttered home. I am not asking for empty feng shui minimalistic coldness... but somewhere between that and what I am today.

I have packed 20 boxes today. Many of the boxes are full of books, vintage teacups, and stemmed glasses of all types. So, the glasses were packed rather sparingly to protect them. Which is why there are so damn many boxes already.

I have collected a bunch of things to give to friends. I swear I could furnish a studio apartment right now with all the stuff I am getting rid of.

BOXES

The packing starts after I put the baby down for bed tonight. I was planning to have a yard sale. Not worth the effort. And not enough time. I am grouchy and exhausted. Already.

Under Pressure

The search for our new home continues to torment us. It is a little unsettling to just see a place on Craislist and put down an enormous deposit, show up with 2 kids and be stuck living there for a year... I dunno.

I get to escape for a few hours tonight. Ushering at the Rialto. It should be nice to hang out with some girls for a bit.

Tandem Stroller Mama

Oh, man. Never thought I'd be that 30-something woman with a freakin' tandem stroller. Yep. Traded in the red, cute and modern jogger for this Buick-y 2 seater.

We have been diligently looking for a place to live in Seattle. Hopefully we find something soon so I can check that huge thing off the overwhelming list in my head.

Tonight we are taking the night off for a movie and the expensive bottle of wine we've been saving for the celebration of Larry getting a job.

Ch-ch-ch-changes...

So, after over 33 years of living in one place, I am faced with the life-changing event of MOVING. Not just me. My 2 small children. My husband. My entire life. Saying goodbye to the desert, our respective families, and our dear, dear friends. Don't get me wrong, it is all very exciting but SO SCARY, too.

He accepted the job last week and I became a blogger today.

I can do this.

Right?
