Big Boy

Henry, in the last few days, has been taking his responsibilities of a big brother very seriously. He loves to help Maggie walk and seems to have embraced his role more than ever. Finally.

Larry's Birthday

Daddy had his 31st birthday this weekend. Henry couldn't wait to give Daddy his presents... so he opened them as soon as he woke up.

We had a long day: trading in our television, farmer's market, lunch, a long hike, and playing in the park.
Henry runs and runs and runs and runs... and yells, "You can't catch me!"

This bench was at our hiking destination. It overlooks the Sound. So pretty...

Italian love cake. Happy Birthday, Larry!

the Emerald Star

We were given a super cool opportunity on Sunday to take a brunch cruise on the Emerald Star around Lake Washington..

\
The kids behaved, the food was delish, we practically had the boat to ourselves.

Check out Bill Gates' house!
We are loving Washington!

another weekend gone

My children are growing so fast. Why does life have to be so short? My children have helped me to grasp time a little better... because I can see them change in a month. And a month seems like a breath in my life. So quick. Just a flash of a memory.

Does anyone know how to bottle the delicious smell of my children's hair when they come home from being at the beach?

Painting Ugly Furniture

This ugly buffet plus this yellowy green paint...

Equals this! Do you like it? One of my weekend accomplishments.

garden odds and ends

Close ups from my secret garden. I planted some lettuce, radishes and peppers from seed this weekend, too. We'll see how they do...

Recipe for Recession

Quiche was invented for recessions. I clean out my fridge before heading to the market to figure out what we need for the week... This week I had some odds and ends that made a delicious quiche this week. Spinach, broccoli, carrots, ham, peppers... nice and simple and everyone loved it... especially the simple homemade crust!

My mom had a book in the 80s called "Real Men Don't Eat Quiche"... hmmm.
