These lilies were a gift from Larry last week in honor of our anniversary. Very lovely. But their heady smell was too much for all of us... they are still gorgeous but living on our patio now. I like this picture.
First, I am a wife and mother. Second, and a very close second, I am a CREATOR. I love art, design, fashion and color. I would die without it. I make art everyday.

Baby's Birds
These darn birds have been sitting around in their "finished state" for weeks now. I am not happy with them. The idea is great... but they are awkward and quirky (OMG!). But Maggie likes them! I tried stringing them to be hung but I filled them with scraps and fiberfil making them quite heavy. So, I just tacked them on her wall this morning. I put a decent amount of work into them so I am forcing myself to enjoy them.
Stay tuned for some Chintzy Couture Baby scrap dresses in the coming days...
xo.

a tisket, a tasket, my new sewing basket!
Maybe a new sewing basket will inspire me to sew? Hmm, maybe not. But, you know, I have been without a sewing basket for several years now. My old one (and my beloved first) was stolen! And I can't recollect exactly what was in it... but I know there were old photos and treasures galore. Anyhoo, I have let go of that and decided it was time for a new one. I got this one for $7... it's very retro (although brand spanking new) including the plastic insert like my mother and grandmother's baskets have.
And who would have STOLEN my old basket? Right out of my sewing studio at an arts center? I dunno, maybe some fool who thought I'd make it big on a reality TV show... did I tell you that PR already had the casting call in Seattle and I wasn't invited? *sniff*

Lazy Sunday
Not much happening today... the windows are open, the sky is blue, played a little Wii with Hen, planted some mint and parsley, made a giant pasta salad with tons of veggies for dinner tonight, went to the asian market for some jasmine rice and coconut milk (thinking of EEB) and really wanting a Sunday paper. One more day of weekend! Yes!
An orchid opening... over a couple of days...

Spring Rolls!
Since our arrival in Seattle I have been enjoying our very diverse neighborhood and the food the area has to offer... Vietnamese food is my favorite at the moment. These SPRING ROLLS are 2 for $5 at most local restaurants... but I decided to try them out myself with my own twist.
These are filled with:
baked tofu, spinach, organic broccoli and carrot slaw, and vermicelli. I made a simple dipping sauce with soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, chopped peanuts and water.
They are not nearly as lovely as those served by Pho 88 but we liked them.
Larry just added that we needed mint in them... and they would have been perfect! Hey... I had a mint plant in Tucson... and I just realized it DIDN'T make it here somehow. Darn it.
